Mavericks sign F Jefferson

The Dallas Mavericks announced Monday that they signed free agent forward Richard Jefferson.

The team did not disclose terms of the deal.

Last season, Jefferson averaged 10.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 27.0 minutes while shooting 45 percent from the floor, 40.9 from 3-point range and 74.1 percent from the free-throw line in all 82 games (78 starts) for the Utah Jazz.

Jefferson has career averages of 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 32.1 minutes in 934 games (772 starts) with the New Jersey Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and Jazz over 13 seasons.

Jefferson appeared in two NBA Finals with the Nets and won a bronze medal as a member of Team USA at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.

After starring at the University of Arizona, Jefferson was drafted No. 13 overall in 2001.
