Guard Kendrick Nunn has chosen to opt into the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to an ESPN report Tuesday.

Nunn, who signed with the Lakers last August, will make $5.25 million for the upcoming season.

The 26-year-old missed the entire 2021-22 season after suffering a bone bruise on his right knee that never fully healed well enough for him to see action. Nunn was expected to be a key complementary piece for the Lakers, who finished 33-49 and missed the postseason for the seventh time in nine years.

Nunn played his first two campaigns with the Miami Heat, joining the team as an undrafted free agent in 2019 out of Oakland and being named to the 2019-20 NBA All-Rookie first team. He averaged double figures in scoring in each of his first two years, and has posted career averages of 15.0 points and 3.0 assists in 123 games (111 starts).
