Sacramento Kings starting guard Kevin Huerter will undergo season-ending left shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum, according to multiple reports on Friday.

Huerter was injured in a game against the Memphis Grizzlies on March 18. He is expected to be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season.

Huerter averaged 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 64 games (59 starts) this season, his second with Sacramento.

The 25-year-old Huerter departed with his injury just 1:51 into the game against the Grizzlies. He was driving for a layup when Desmond Bane swiped toward the ball and connected hard on Huerter’s left wrist.

Huerter went down to the floor in pain and then was taken to the locker room. The Kings announced a short time later that he had a left shoulder injury.

Friday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks will mark Huerter’s sixth straight absence. Sacramento is in eighth place in the Western Conference, one game behind the Mavericks, who hold the final top-six playoff spot in the West.

Dallas steamrolled the Kings 132-96 on Tuesday in the first of two games between the teams in Sacramento.

Huerter has career averages of 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 413 games (350 starts) over six NBA seasons with the Atlanta Hawks (2018-22) and Kings.
