The Arizona Cardinals reportedly will host former Pro Bowl running back Chris Johnson this weekend.

Johnson will travel to Arizona for a physical and workout Sunday, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported Friday.

The Cardinals reportedly are among several interested teams, and ESPN reported earlier in the week that Arizona had offered Johnson a one-year contract.

Coach Bruce Arians has been displeased with the performance of his running backs in training camp.

Incumbent starter Andre Ellington, who was ineffective last season due to injuries, missed most of the first week of camp with a sore hamstring.

Third-round pick David Johnson, drafted to help take pressure off Ellington by lightening his workload, and backup Marion Grice have not practiced much because of hamstring injuries.

Johnson, 29, rushed for 663 yards for the New York Jets last season, averaging 4.3 yards per carry.

Johnson’s best year was 2009, when he led the NFL with 2,006 rushing yards.

In seven seasons with the Tennessee Titans (2008-13) and Jets, Johnson has run for 8,628 yards (4.5 yards per carry) and scored 60 touchdowns (51 rushing).
