New York Jets safety Marcus Maye and New Orleans Saints safety Marcus Williams accepted their franchise tag tenders from their respective teams, NFL Network reported Saturday.

Maye’s agent Erik Burkhardt has since retweeted the NFL Network’s report on his client.

Maye and Williams are each slated to make $10.612 million this season provided the parties fail to sign a long-term extension by July 15.

Maye, 28, had a strong season in 2020 after taking over as the defensive leader following the team’s trade of Jamal Adams to the Seattle Seahawks.

The four-year starter recorded two interceptions, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery while starting all 16 games for New York in 2020.

Maye has logged six interceptions, 2.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and 22 passes defensed in 54 career games (all starts) with the Jets.

Williams, 24, made $1.3 million in 2020 while playing on the final year of his rookie contract.

Williams has started all 60 games he’s played in for the Saints, including 14 last season. He made 59 tackles with three interceptions and seven passes defensed in 2020. He has 13 career interceptions.
