New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson left Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots in the third quarter due to an apparent head injury.

After Wilson had a ball slip through his hands near the left sideline, New England safety Jabrill Peppers came in late and delivered a hit to his helmet with 6:57 left in the third. Peppers appeared to lead with his chest, but Wilson remained down on the field before being helped off by medical staff.

Wilson made it to the sideline under his own power and was taken to the blue medical tent before heading back to the locker room.

Peppers was called for unnecessary roughness on the play.

Prior to exiting, Wilson had two catches for 34 yards. He was targeted five times.

Wilson entered Sunday as New York’s leading receiver with 93 receptions for 1,008 yards and three touchdowns. He is in his second NFL season after being selected by the Jets in the first round of the 2022 draft.

New York went into Week 18 at 6-10 and has already been eliminated from playoff contention.
