Cornerback Bradley Roby is headed to New Orleans in a trade between the Saints and Houston Texans, per multiple reports Wednesday.

It’s not immediately clear what the Texans will receive in the trade.

Roby, 29, is suspended for Week 1 but the former Ohio State cornerback should help fill a position of need in New Orleans.

The Texans are projected to use Desmond King II and Terrance Mitchell as the starters at cornerback with Vernon Hargreaves III and Tavierre Thomas as the primary backups.

The Saints are likely to pair Roby with Marshon Lattimore, giving the team a strong starting tandem.

Ken Crawley, Desmond Trufant and third-round rookie Paulson Adebo round out the depth chart.

Roby signed a three-year, $36 million contract in 2020 but was suspended for six games for using a banned substance. The suspension became official in November 2020 and ends after Week 1.

The trade counts $1 million in dead money against the Texans’ cap this season but creates $9.2 million in cap space.

Roby joins two fellow Buckeyes in the defensive backfield, safety Malcolm Jenkins and Lattimore.
