The Atlanta Falcons parted ways with two defensive assistant coaches Thursday.

Secondary coach and defensive passing game coordinator Jerome Henderson and defensive line coach Travis Jones will not return in 2020.

The Falcons (7-9) missed the playoffs and finished 20th in total defense and 23rd in scoring defense in 2019. Atlanta tied for 29th in sacks with 28.

“We appreciate the contributions Jerome and Travis made to our organization,” head coach Dan Quinn said in a statement released by the team. “Both are fine individuals and great teammates that will find continued success in coaching.”

Henderson had been on the Falcons’ staff since 2016. Jones joined the team in 2018.

Owner Arthur Blank announced last month that Quinn will be back for his sixth season in 2020. He is 43-37 with two playoff berths and an appearance in Super Bowl LI.

Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter and special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica also will return. On the defensive side, Raheem Morris was promoted to defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jeff Ulbrich is now the assistant head coach.
