The Atlanta Falcons declined the fifth-year option on defensive end Charles Harris, multiple outlets reported Monday.
The option was worth $10.051 million. In 2020, Harris is slated to receive $1.94 million in base salary as part of the four-year, $10.84 million deal he received after being a first-round pick (22nd overall) by the Miami Dolphins in 2017.
The Dolphins traded Harris to Atlanta late last week in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2021.
Harris played in 41 games (eight starts) in three seasons with Miami and made minimal impact. He had 61 tackles and just 3.5 sacks.
The 25-year-old will look to carve himself a role with the Falcons, who had just 28 sacks last season. Only the Dolphins (23) had fewer.
