Buffalo Bills safety Taylor Rapp was taken off the field in an ambulance after suffering an apparent head injury late in the first half Sunday against the visiting New York Jets.

Rapp was ruled to have a neck injury and did not need to be transported to a hospital, according to the CBS broadcast, instead remaining in the team’s locker room.

The Jets completed a fourth-and-2 pass to Breece Hall during the final two minutes of the half. Two Bills players were injured on the play: nickel back Taron Johnson, who made the tackle, and Rapp.

Johnson was able to jog off the field under his own power, but Rapp, whose head collided with Hall’s shoulder on the play, crumpled to the ground several moments after the play ended.

Rapp appeared to have movement in his arms and hands as he was loaded onto the ambulance.

Johnson, meanwhile, was ruled out with a concussion.

The Bills have experienced scary injuries in the past 11 months. Damar Hamlin suffered a near-fatal commotio cordis episode after a blow to the chest late in a regular-season game against Cincinnati last January. Earlier this season, running back Damien Harris suffered a neck injury against the New York Giants and left the field in an ambulance on Oct. 15.

Rapp had two tackles before leaving the game. He is a fifth-year pro in his first season with Buffalo after four with the Los Angeles Rams. He had a fumble recovery and a half-sack over his first 10 games (two starts) this season.
