The Buffalo Bills wasted no time securing a backfill to their offensive line, signing Brian Winters a day after the guard was cut by division rival New York.

It was a fortuitous move for the Bills, who lost guard Jon Felicano indefinitely after he had surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle.

Winters started 79 of 89 career games with the Jets and was their longest-tenured player prior to getting cut. Winters, 29, played in just nine games for the Jets last season after a shoulder injury landed him on injured reserve.

Feliciano started every game for the Bills last year.

Winters will compete with interior linemen Evan Boehm, Daryl Williams and Spencer Long for the starting job.
