Free agent offensive lineman Michael Schofield agreed to a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, ESPN reported on Thursday.

A 16-game starter at right guard for the Los Angeles Chargers last season, Schofield joins left tackle Russell Okung in Carolina. Okung was traded to the Panthers from the Chargers for guard Trai Turner.

Schofield, who is 6-foot-7, 300 pounds, was an offensive tackle at Michigan but has been used as an interior lineman in the NFL. He logged almost 1,000 snaps at guard for the Chargers in 2019.

Schofield, 29, has 66 career starts in five seasons split between the Denver Broncos and Chargers. He was selected in the third round of the 2014 draft by the Broncos.

Schofield is married to U.S. women’s hockey forward Kendall Coyne Schofield.
