–The Browns lost one of their best defensive players when cornerback Terrance Mitchell suffered a broken right wrist defending a pass. Mitchell has one interception, two forced fumbles a fumble recovery and three pass break-ups.

“It’s going to be some time, obviously, but I don’t think that it may be season ending,” head coach Hue Jackson said. “That’s a tough loss because I truly believe that he was playing well. He was one of the guys who created turnovers in our secondary.”

The Browns put Mitchell on injured reserve Tuesday.

–Opponents are gashing the Browns on punt returns. Dwayne Harris returned five punts for 98 yards in the Raiders’ 45-42 overtime victory last Sunday. A 49-yard return set up a touchdown that put the Raiders ahead, 34-28. A 14-yard return to the Oakland 47 helped set up the touchdown that forced overtime.

“We have to cover better,” Jackson said. “We have guys going down there taking shots at the returners, and we’re not close. The returner has to return it better. We have to get these things better. I am speaking very firmly about these things.”

Amos Jones is in his first year as Browns special teams coordinator after five years serving the same role with the Arizona Cardinals.

–The Browns have 13 takeaways through four games, equaling their takeaway total from all of 2017. Even more impressive – they are plus-seven in takeaway-giveaway after finishing minus-28 in 2017.

BY THE NUMBERS: 11 – Years since the Browns scored at least 42 points in a game, as they did in the 45-42 loss to the Raiders. They beat the Bengals, 51-45, on Sept. 16, 2007.
