–The Browns are going to be without leading tackle Joe Schobert for the foreseeable future. Schobert, a middle linebacker, suffered a hamstring injury playing the Chargers last Sunday and is listed as week-to-week.

“He’s a really, really good athlete,” defensive coordinator Gregg Williams said. “I’m talking about an excellent athlete. On top of that, he’s very smart. He’s very prideful. He does not ever like making a mistake. On top of all of that, our middle linebacker is the quarterback in and on the defense.”

Christian Kirksey is moving from outside to inside to take Schobert’s spot.

–Rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Browns’ No. 1 wide receiver, Jarvis Landry, are not in sync. Landry was targeted nine times against the Chargers and caught only two passes for 11 yards.

Sometimes the number of targets can be misleading, because throwaways in a receiver’s area go down as targets. Teams also are double-teaming Landry more than they did earlier in the season, but Mayfield still feels responsible for not having better chemistry with Landry.

“He’s the best receiver in the league, in my opinion,” Mayfield said. “I have to put the ball in better range for him. I’ll get my stuff fixed. None of that’s on Jarvis. He’s doing his job. I have to find ways get him the ball more.”

Landry leads the Browns with 31 catches.

–The Ring of Honor inside FirstEnergy Stadium displays the names of the 16 Browns in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A number – 10,363 – has been added. It is the number of consecutive snaps former left tackle Joe Thomas played before a triceps injury last October forced him into retirement.

Naturally, Thomas said it was “a special moment” to have his accomplishment recognized.

“I’m proud of being able to go out there and me giving my all every Sunday and do everything I can to try and help the team win and turn it around,” Thomas said. “I feel like the turnaround has happened this year. I hope that I was part of building the foundation for the turnaround, even though I physically wasn’t playing. I’m going to call this ‘the turnaround season.'”

BY THE NUMBERS: 23 – Consecutive road losses for the Browns as they prepare to play the Buccaneers in Tampa on Sunday.
