NFL 2016 Season Analysis: Baltimore Ravens

FACTS AND STATS
2015 Finish: First in AFC North (0-1 in playoffs
Record: 6-10
Divisional finish: 3-3

87-56 overall; 10-5 postseason

XTRA FACTOR

–The Ravens are confident the team can quickly bounce back from last season’s disappointing 5-11 finish, especially if they can stay healthy. With the addition of several key free agents, including safety Eric Weddle (San Diego) and some incoming rookies who are expected to make an immediate impact, the Ravens are looking to be back in the playoff hunt in 2016.

112-101-2 overall; 0-7 postseason

XTRA FACTOR

–The main storyline remains until this team wins a post-season game. The Bengals have the talent to get into the postseason. Now, they need to show the character to win once they get there to avoid beating themselves.

NFL 2016 Season Analysis: Cleveland Browns

FACT AND STATS
2015: Fourth in AFC North.
Record: 3-13
DIVISIONAL RECORD: 1-5

Total offense: 372.3 (8th)
Rushing: 100.6 (19th)
Passing: 271.7 (7th)
Total defense: 420.3 (32nd)
Rushing: 121.4: (24th)
Passing: 298.9 (32nd)

COACH: Hue Jackson
1st season with Browns
2nd season as NFL head coach
8-8 overall

XTRA FACTOR

–The Browns have been through rebuilds before, but with Hue Jackson in charge it feels different. Lest we forget, he pushed the Oakland Raiders to their best record (2011, 8-8) since that 2002 Super Bowl team, but was fired anyway. In Cleveland, he won’t make a quick turn-around from 3-13 to 13-3, but Jackson has the Browns headed in the right direction. Must mention it will be interesting to see how quarterback Robert Griffin III holds up, emotionally and physically..

2016 UNIT-BY-UNIT ANALYSIS

Record: 6-10: Playoff (Wild Card, 1-1).
DIVISIONAL RECORD: 3-3

TOTAL OFFENSE: 395.4 (3rd)
RUSHING: 107.9: (16th)
PASSING: 287.7: (3rd)
TOTAL DEFENSE: 361.1 (21st)

PASSING: 271.9: (30th)

COACH: Mike Tomlin
10th season as Steelers/NFL head coach
98-57 overall; 6-5 postseason

XTRA FACTOR

–Tomlin performed one of his better coaching jobs through all the injuries in 2015. He fostered a “next man up” mentality that his players and the entire organization embrace and it carried them through difficult times, particularly when all the injuries hit their offense last season. So imagine what he can do with a healthy team.
