Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley has been ruled out of Sunday’s NFC West clash with the San Francisco 49ers, the team said Saturday.

Gurley didn’t practice all week due to a left thigh contusion, an injury sustained in the Rams’ 30-29 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 3.

Gurley has rushed 64 times for 270 yards with five touchdowns this season.

Malcolm Brown will likely receive the bulk of the workload against the 49ers (4-0). Brown has rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries this season.

The Rams (3-2) promoted running back John Kelly from the practice squad on Saturday to provide depth at the position. Rookie Darrell Henderson will be No. 2 behind Brown.

Los Angeles also released receiver Nsimba Webster.
