The Denver Broncos are placing defensive end Derek Wolfe on season-ending injured reserve with an elbow injury, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday.

Wolfe was hurt during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 23-20 win against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Earlier in the game, Wolfe collected his sixth and seventh sacks of the season — a career high — against Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers.

Wolfe added 34 tackles, 12 quarterback hits and one forced fumble in 12 starts this season. He has 33 sacks, 303 tackles and 77 QB hits in 108 career games (all starts) since the Broncos made him a second-round pick in 2012.

The 29-year-old was playing in the final season of a four-year, $36.7 million extension he signed in January 2016.
