Report: Lions re-sign DE Romeo Okwara to 3-year, $39M deal

The Detroit Lions are re-signing defensive end Romeo Okwara to a three-year, $39 million deal, ESPN reported Monday.

The 25-year-old pass rusher will receive $25 million when he officially signs the contract, per the report.

Claimed off waivers from the New York Giants in 2018, Okwara has registered 19 sacks in 45 games (24 starts) with the Lions over the past three seasons.

He broke out with career highs in sacks (10), tackles (44) and quarterback hits (18) last season, adding three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 16 games (nine starts).

Undrafted out of Notre Dame in 2016, Okwara has 20 sacks and 49 quarterback hits in 67 games (28 starts) with the Giants (2016-17) and Lions.
