The Jacksonville Jaguars placed 12 members of their practice squad on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday.

One member of the practice squad tested positive and the others were added to the list after contact tracing determined there was a proximity issue, the NFL Network reported.

The dozen players are: running back Nathan Cottrell; tight end Ben Ellefson; linebackers Nate Evans and Joe Giles-Harris; wide receivers Terry Godwin, Josh Hammond and Trey Quinn; offensive linemen Jared Hilbers, KC McDermott and Austen Pleasants; and defensive backs Doug Middleton and Josh Nurse.

Defensive end Josh Mauro was also placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The 29-year-old veteran was suspended for the first five games this season for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

The Reserve/COVID-19 list was created for players who either test positive for the coronavirus or who have been in close contact with an infected person.

The Jaguars, who worked remotely Saturday, are scheduled to host the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The team said in a statement that it still is planning to play the game.

“As a precautionary measure for (Saturday), we made the decision to conduct our football activities remotely while following NFL protocols and recommendations,” a team statement said. “This decision was made in consultation with the NFL and the team’s medical advisors. The health and safety of our players, coaches and staff, as well as their families, are our top priority.”
