Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins could miss “a couple weeks” because of a hamstring injury, according to a report Monday from ESPN.

Doctors still are evaluating the severity of the injury, which is expected to cost Watkins the Chiefs’ next two games against the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos. The 27-year-old wideout already had been hampered this season by a concussion and neck injury.

In five games this season, Watkins has 21 catches for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He has eight receiving touchdowns in two-plus seasons with the Chiefs and has 33 career receiving touchdowns in 81 games with the Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams and Bills.

The Chiefs are 4-1 to start the season and sit atop the AFC West division with a one-game lead over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Kansas City’s first defeat came Sunday when the Chiefs fell 40-32 to the Raiders. Watkins had two catches Sunday, including an 8-yard TD pass from Patrick Mahomes before he left the game.
