The Miami Dolphins fired offensive coordinator Chad O’Shea after just one season, the team announced Monday.
The Dolphins also parted ways with offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo and safeties coach Tony Oden.
“I want to thank Chad, Dave and Tony for their hard work and commitment this season. This was not an easy decision but one I felt was best for the future of the Miami Dolphins,” head coach Brian Flores said.
The Dolphins struggled mightily on offense this season, with the quarterback carousel turning from Josh Rosen to veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick. The team finished 25th in points scored (19.1 per game), 27th in total yards (310.0) and last in rushing yards (72.2) — with the 37-year-old Fitzpatrick leading the team in rushing with 243 yards overall.
O’Shea joined the Dolphins on Feb. 8 after spending 10 seasons (2009-18) with the New England Patriots as wide receivers coach. He previously served as an offensive assistant/wide receivers coach with the Minnesota Vikings.
DeGuglielmo re-joined the Dolphins as an analyst in 2019 before being promoted to offensive line coach on July 29. He just finished his fifth season and third stint with the team.
Oden, who completed his 16th season as an NFL coach, joined the Dolphins on Jan. 31, 2018 as defensive backs coach and served as safeties coach during the 2019 season.
