Veteran pass rushers Justin Houston and Bruce Irvin signed with the Miami Dolphins with very little time to incorporate into the defense before the playoffs begin on Saturday night.

Ravaged by injuries, the Dolphins lost top pass rusher Bradley Chubb to a season-ending ACL tear on Dec. 31. Miami earned a wild-card spot in the AFC and heads to Kansas City to play the Chiefs on Saturday, in a revenge spot for Houston.

Houston spent his first eight seasons with the Chiefs (2011-18) before playing with the Indianapolis Colts (2019-20), Baltimore Ravens (2021-22) and Carolina Panthers (2023). He has 112 career sacks.

Houston, who turns 35 on Jan. 21, recorded nine tackles and half a sack in seven games (all starts) with the Panthers this season. He asked for his release from the team last month in a bid to sign with a contender.

A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Houston has 19 forced fumbles, 14 fumble recoveries and five interceptions in 170 career games (151 starts).

Irvin, 36, was on and off the active roster of the Detroit Lions three times this season. He was released last week after posting 1.0 sack in two games.

A first-round pick in 2012, Irvin has 56.5 sacks in 140 career games.
