The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms for the return of cornerback Mackensie Alexander on a free-agent contract, his agent, Neil Schwartz, announced Friday on Twitter.

Terms of the deals were undisclosed as Alexander rejoins his original team, where he spent his first four seasons from 2016-19 before signing a free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals last year.

Alexander, 27, started a career-high 10 of his 13 games with the Bengals in 2020, recording 47 tackles and six pass breakups while notching one interception.

Originally selected out of Clemson in the second round (No. 54 overall pick) of the 2016 NFL Draft, Alexander has played 68 career games (20 starts) and registered 150 tackles, three interceptions, 4 1/2 sacks and 27 passes defensed.

Alexander marks the latest free agent the Vikings have added this offseason in hopes of bolstering a defense that struggled last season. Minnesota ranked 27th in the NFL in total defense (393.3 total yards allowed per game) and 29th in scoring defense (29.7 points allowed per game).
