New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is inactive for Monday’s game against the Buffalo Bills as the clock potentially winds down on his tenure with the franchise, according to the NFL Network.

Edelman,34, has spent his full 11-season career with the Patriots, winning three Super Bowl rings while catching 620 passes for 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns. He has had three 1,000-yard seasons, including a career-high 1,117 yards in 2019. Edelman was named the MVP in Super Bowl LIII, where he had 10 catches for 141 yards in New England’s win over the Rams.

This year has proved to be much more difficult for the former Kent State wideout, whom the Patriots drafted in the seventh round in 2009. Edelman has not played since Week 7 because of a knee injury.

In six games this season, Edelman has 21 catches for 315 yards.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Edelman also would likely miss next week’s regular-season finale.

“Edelman’s season is almost certainly over — and at age 34, his future is uncertain, as well,” Rapoport tweeted.

Edelman is under contract with the Patriots for 2021, but he could retire or the Patriots could choose to build around younger players.
