New Orleans will host the Super Bowl in 2025 instead of in 2024, as previously awarded.

The change was made so that Super Bowl LVIII will not conflict with Mardi Gras, which is scheduled for Feb. 13, 2024. The next year, Mardi Gras won’t occur until March 4.

When New Orleans originally was awarded the game, the league had a 16-game regular season. But with the league schedule moving to 17 games next season, that pushes back the date of the Super Bowl by one week.

Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., will host the Super Bowl in 2021. SoFi Stadium in the Los Angeles area has the 2022 game, and the 2023 Super Bowl will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

The NFL did not announce a host for the 2024 Super Bowl, but Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas is considered a top contender.

New Orleans has hosted the game 10 times, trailing only Miami, which has had the honor 11 times.

Mardi Gras is held 47 days before Easter. Since the date of Easter fluctuates, so does the date of Mardi Gras.
