Veteran Joe Flacco will start at quarterback again Sunday for the New York Jets as Sam Darnold continues to recover from an AC joint sprain.

Flacco made his first start for the Jets, and his first in nearly a year, last Sunday in a 30-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He was 18-of-33 passing for 195 yards and a touchdown.

The Jets (0-5) play at the Miami Dolphins (2-3) on Sunday.

Flacco, 35, was the No. 18 overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2008 NFL Draft. He was named Super Bowl MVP when the Ravens notched a 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers following the 2012 season.

After the emergence of quarterback Lamar Jackson, the Ravens traded Flacco to the Broncos before the 2019 season. He started eight games in Denver before a neck injury sidelined him the rest of the season. After the Broncos released him in the offseason, the Jets signed him to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Flacco has passed for 40,278 yards, 219 touchdowns and 141 interceptions in 173 career games.

Darnold has struggled in his third NFL season. In four games, he’s completed just 59.4 percent of his passes for 792 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions.
