The San Francisco 49ers created some help for their depleted cornerback position when they promoted veteran Jamar Taylor from the practice squad on Saturday.

The eight-year veteran has played in 91 games (41 starts) with seven NFL teams, including one game with the 49ers earlier this season. He has 243 tackles and three interceptions in his career.

San Francisco also promoted cornerback Brian Allen and receiver Kevin White from the practice squad one day prior to a home contest against the Miami Dolphins. The club also placed defensive end Ezekiel Ansah (biceps) and cornerback K’Waun Williams (knee) on injured reserve.

The 49ers were in need of reinforcements because Ahkello Witherspoon (hamstring) is questionable, while fellow cornerbacks Dontae Johnson (groin) and Emmanuel Moseley (concussion) will miss the game against the Dolphins.

Also, star cornerback Richard Sherman (calf) remains sidelined. He was injured in the Week 1 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
