The Tennessee Titans on Thursday activated defensive end Jeffery Simmons off the reserve/COVID-19 list and placed running back Darrynton Evans on injured reserve.

Simmons rejoins the 53-man roster and is ready to play Sunday when the Titans take on the Houston Texans.

Simmons is the latest Titan to be activated from reserve/COVID-19 list. Over the course of this week, the Titans have activated wide receivers Adam Humphries and Cameron Batson, cornerbacks Greg Mabin and Kristian Fulton, defensive tackle DaQuan Jones, offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson and long snapper Beau Brinkley off the list.

Simmons has 12 tackles, one sack, three quarterback hits, a fumble recovery and a tackle for loss in three games (all starts) this season. The Titans’ first-round pick in 2019 was enveloped in the coronavirus outbreak that hit the Titans, either testing positive or coming into contact with someone who had.

Evans left Tuesday’s game against the Buffalo Bills with a hamstring injury. He’ll be eligible to return after three games. Evans missed the first two games of the season with injuries and has just 21 yards rushing on the season.

Starting wideout Corey Davis, tight end MyCole Pruitt and fullback Khari Blasingame from the 53-man roster currently remain on the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Titans also designated safety Dane Cruikshank for return from injured reserve. That opens a three-week window for him to practice and be activated.
