First-round pick Caleb Farley signed his rookie contract with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday.

Farley is guaranteed $13.495 million in a four-year deal that includes a signing bonus of $7.174 million and a standard fifth-year team option.

He did not play last season, opting to skip the season due to COVID-19, citing the death of his mother due to cancer.

The 22nd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Farley was a lockdown cover corner at Virginia Tech but required two surgical procedures on his back. Farley also had a torn knee ligament as a freshman. He came to the Hokies as a wide receiver and moved to cornerback in 2018.

Titans general manager Jon Robinson said Farley cleared all medical checks and with a 4.3-second 40-yard dash at 207 pounds, Tennessee saw more reward than risk with its top pick in 2021.

“We certainly thought he was a premium player on our board,” said Robinson. “Watched a lot of film. Guy with a really cool, really explosive skill set that will help our football team.”
