Longtime Washington lineman Vince Promuto dies at 82

Vince Promuto, an offensive guard who played all 11 of his NFL seasons in Washington and was a two-time Pro Bowl selection, has died at age 82.

“We are saddened to hear of the passing of former Washington lineman and Ring of Fame member Vince Promuto,” the team said Wednesday. “Our deepest condolences are with his family and friends.”

Promuto started 113 of the 130 games he played for Washington from 1960-70. He was chosen by the team in the fourth round of the 1960 NFL Draft out of the College of the Holy Cross. He earned Pro Bowl honors in 1963 and ’64.

Promuto was voted one of Washington’s 70 greatest players in 2002.
