Virginia Tech hosted Syracuse in Blacksburg on Saturday and with under three minutes left in the game, things looked bad for the visitors. The Orange, losers of three consecutive games, trailed 36-27.

But, quarterback Garrett Shrader, a transfer from Mississippi State, completed a touchdown pass with 2:28 remaining to pull to within two points of the Hokies. When Syracuse forced a three-and-out and got the ball back, the Orange needed a big play. They got it from a most unlikely hero … Damien Alford.

The freshman wide receiver from Hollywood, Fla., didn’t have a catch in the game, but with just 19 seconds left and the ball at the Virginia Tech 45-yard line, Alford caught a pass from Shrader at the 7-yard line and ran it in to secure the 41-36 win.

Shrader passed for 236 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 174 yards and three scores in the game.

Alford’s only reception, the game winner, has been chosen as the U.S. Farm Raised Catfish “Catch of the Week.”

Remember … for the tailgate tent or the pre-game party, U. S. Farm-Raised Catfish is always “the winning catch.”

The Catfish Institute, or TCI, was formed in 1986 by catfish farmers and feed manufacturers to raise consumer awareness of the positive qualities of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. Since its formation, U.S. per capita consumption has more than doubled.

U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish is a sustainable and environmentally friendly seafood product. The National Audubon Society, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Environmental Defense all recommend U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish as a safe environmental choice. To find out more, visit www.uscatfish.com.
