Late Penn State Pass Prevents Possible Damaging Upset

Less than two minutes remained at State College, Pa., and the chance for a season-crushing upset looked very real.

The nationally ranked Nittany Lions, losers only at Ohio State, had squandered a 10-point fourth-quarter lead against Indiana, loser of five games, who took four overtimes to squeak by Akron. Another loss would effectively end Penn State’s postseason championship dreams. Another conference loss, especially to a non-contender, would hurt in the league standings and the national rankings.

Penn State had the ball on its own 43-yard line and the clock was moving. Only 1:46 remained. It was time for quarterback Drew Allar and wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith to do their magic. Allar hit Lambert-Smith in stride deep down the right sideline for a 57-yard strike for the home team to regain the lead. The Nittany Lions added a safety 13 seconds later for the 33-24 win.

The game-winning reception has been chosen as the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish “Catch of the Week.”

For the game, Allar completed 20 of 31 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Lambert-Smith had six receptions for 96 yards, including the game-winner.

Remember … for the tailgate tent or the pre-game party, U. S. Farm-Raised Catfish is always “the winning catch.”

The Catfish Institute, or TCI, was formed in 1986 by catfish farmers and feed manufacturers to raise consumer awareness of the positive qualities of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. Since its formation, U.S. per capita consumption has more than doubled.

U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish is a sustainable and environmentally friendly seafood product. The National Audubon Society, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Environmental Defense all recommend U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish as a safe environmental choice. To find out more, visit www.uscatfish.com.
