Fresno State football coach Jeff Tedford will not coach the team’s bowl game, the school announced Friday.

Fresno State director of athletics Terry Tumey released a statement, saying in part: “Jeff Tedford announced today that he is stepping away from his duties effective immediately to address personal health concerns.”

Assistant head coach Tim Skipper will serve as acting head coach.

Tedford is expected to return as the Bulldogs’ head coach in 2024, per reporting from Action Network.

The 62-year-old Tedford has an all-time winning percentage of 61.5 percent (126-79), spending 11 seasons as the head man at Cal. He is 44-22 in five years at Fresno State.

The Bulldogs finished 8-4 this season, which included a 4-4 mark in the Mountain West.
