After more than 58 minutes of the game in San Marcos, Tex., on Saturday, Southern Miss led, 13-7, and was ready to ruin the Texas State homecoming celebration.

But, when Bobcats quarterback Layne Hatcher connected with wide receiver Ashtyn Hawkins on a 74-yard scoring strike to take a 14-13 lead, it looked like the celebration had been saved.

Unfortunately for the home team, there was still 1:21 on the clock.

With just 32 seconds left in the game, Golden Eagle running back Chandler Pittman caught a pass from quarterback Zach Wilcke that resulted in a 53-yard touchdown, giving the visitors a 20-14 win. It ran the Southern Miss record to 4-3, helping keep alive its postseason bowl possibility.

That game-winning reception has been chosen as the U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish “Catch of the Week.”

For the game, Wilcke completed 18 of 25 passes for 187 yards and the winning score. The touchdown catch was Pittman’s only reception in the game.

Remember … for the tailgate tent or the pre-game party, U. S. Farm-Raised Catfish is always “the winning catch.”

The Catfish Institute, or TCI, was formed in 1986 by catfish farmers and feed manufacturers to raise consumer awareness of the positive qualities of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. Since its formation, U.S. per capita consumption has more than doubled.

U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish is a sustainable and environmentally friendly seafood product. The National Audubon Society, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Environmental Defense all recommend U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish as a safe environmental choice. To find out more, visit www.uscatfish.com.
