Philadelphia Phillies slugger Rhys Hoskins was placed on the 10-day injured Tuesday due to a strained left groin.

The move was retroactive to Saturday.

Hoskins, the team’s first baseman, last played on Thursday when he went 3-for-5 with two RBIs against the Washington Nationals.

The transaction comes at a time in which the Phillies have won eight straight games to move into first place in the National League East. Philadelphia opened a three-game slate against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday.

Brad Miller started at first base in Tuesday’s game.

Hoskins leads the Phillies with 24 homers, 29 doubles and 68 RBIs. He is batting .244 in 104 games.

Hoskins, 28, has 115 homers in four-plus seasons with Philadelphia.

The Phillies recalled outfielder Mickey Moniak from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move. Moniak went 3-for-26 (.115) with one homer and three RBIs in 12 games with Philadelphia earlier this season.
